Retired Police Officer Found Guilty Of Aggravated Incest

RAPIDES PARISH, LA – An Alexandria man was found guilty Thursday on five counts of aggravated incest, according to the Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office.

Walter Urena, 65, a retired Alexandria police officer, was arrested in July 2011 on six counts of aggravated incest. He was indicted by a Rapides Parish grand jury in early 2012.

A jury trial began Tuesday and lasted until Thursday, when Urena was found guilty on five counts of aggravated incest.

Urena could receive 25 to 99 years in prison on each count. Also, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to the release.

Sentencing has been scheduled for March 21.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Monique Metoyer, assisted by Assistant District Attorney Jamilla Bynog.
